Recently, a friend posted a question on the WTG fan page asking ”Who’s the best women’s health provider in town?” I’ll share a couple of personal thoughts below, but I thought I’d put it out there to all of you to comment and let us know who your favorite is? Feel free to include website, phone number, etc. in your comment.
Here’s my latest experience:
I had a lovely experience at Mountain Midwifery for my well-woman visit….comfy family-centered office and waiting area, 45 minute visit, lots of my questions answered, great health recommendations and exercise solutions, many natural solutions to squirrely hormone issues, AND I wore a cozy cloth gown instead of those nasty paper things. I met with Tracy Ryan, CNM and she also had a student with her, who was fabulous as well.
I’m about to make an appointment with Anne Walters, CNM for Maya Abdominal Massage, which I’m excited about and will report back after.
So, what do you think ladies?
Share your experience, let us know who you think Denver’s finest is.

I agree that Mountian Midwifery is great. I also recently had a pap-smear done by Jen Anderson-Tarver, who is a student working with Julie Hughes of Mosaic Midwifery. She was gentle, their visits are a hour and I wore my own clothes (so I was under a blanket for the check).

Though I have a great family practice doc, I’ll stick with midwives for well woman care.

I have to agree that Mountain Midwifery is awesome! I had my son there last year and at the beginning of my pregnancy with him I was with an OB/GYN and the difference in care is amazing. At Mountain Midwifery they treat you so well and it’s like you become part of their family. They take the time to get to know you and your family so you aren’t just another patient that gets pushed through the door so they can see the next one, like how I felt at the OB/GYN I had been with for many years. It’s also nice to be supported in birthing naturally, as when I told my OB/GYN that I wanted a med-free birth with my son, I was basically told “good luck with that”. Going to Mountain Midwifery, they really respected me and my birthing plans and didn’t make me feel silly for wanting a natural birth because that’s what they are about, which I did have and was an experience that I felt I needed. It’s really nice to have care from women who truly make you feel like they care about you and believe in you and will help you along the way. Mountain Midwifery is a great place!

I’m in the Colorado Springs area, and use Merrie MacDowell, CPM for my well-woman care. I also get to wear my own clothes, and there are no stirrups involved. Very comfy bed (no papery table), and I can honestly say that her exams DON’T HURT. She is extremely gentle, and explains exactly what she’s doing and what it will feel like. I can’t say enough good about her.
Her appointments tend to last at least 45 mins.
Her number is: 719-660-8721

I had my son at MMC last year and had the best experience there. My childbirth experience was nothing like I expected, but it still went very well. I felt completely supported, respected, and genuinely cared for by the MMC staff and the doula I hired through MMC. I have continued to get my well woman care and will continue to do so as long as I am in the area. I highly recommend them!!
